Avelo Airlines is a low-cost carrier that launched in 2021 and has been quickly growing. The airline operates a fleet of modern Boeing 737 aircraft and serves destinations across the United States. Avelo competes with Spirit Airways, Breeze Airways, Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines.
Today, the carrier announced that it is making Las Vegas its second West Coast base and adding four new, exclusive routes from that airport to cities in Oregon, Iowa, Texas, and California.
New service will fly between Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM), Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BRO), Dubuque Regional Airport (DBQ), and California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV). The airline also currently flies to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS).
Avelo will be the only airline flying nonstop between Las Vegas and these five destinations.
Flights between Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS) will increase from twice weekly on Sundays and Thursdays to four times weekly on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays starting on September 8th. Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays beginning on September 7th. Both Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BRO) and California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV) will have twice weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays. Those begin on September 8th. Dubuque Regional Airport (DBQ) flights begin on September 13th and will fly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Avelo Airlines Founder, Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said:
As the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas is a winning bet for our sixth U.S. base. We are excited about the exclusive nonstop access to Vegas Avelo’s new base will offer our Customers from these five communities and more in the future. Vegas has something for everyone and Avelo’s affordability, convenience and reliability will make getting to this popular destination easier than ever. The new flights, destinations and jobs our new base will enable is a winning hand for Las Vegas, Avelo and, most importantly, our Customers.”
Anthony’s Take: I have yet to fly Avelo Airlines, but I’d like to check them out. This year has seen me trying out multiple, new carriers and I’m adding Avelo to the list.
