Avelo Airlines has added a new route from its hub at Tweed New Haven Regional Airport (HVN). Service to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) will begin on July 12th.
The low-cost carrier launched in 2021 and operates a fleet of modern Boeing 737 aircraft. It serves destinations across the United States and competes with Spirit Airways, Breeze Airways, Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines. Avelo recently celebrated its third birthday and has been aggressively adding new routes, new destinations, and opened its sixth aircraft base last month.
Avelo’s latest addition is a nice complement to the flights it already runs between Tweed New Haven Regional Airport (HVN) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). In addition to these routes, Avelo also connects New Haven to:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
- Charleston International Airport (CHS)
- Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA)
- Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
- Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB)
- Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS)
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
- Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
- Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP)
- Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport (HOU)
- Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS)
- Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) (I’ll be on the inaugural flight)
- Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR)
- Nashville International Airport (BNA)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO)
- Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)
- San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)
- Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
- Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV)
- St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL)
- Tampa International Airport (TPA)
- Traverse City’s Cherry Capital Airport (TVC)
- Palm Beach International Airport (PBI)
- Wilmington International Airport (ILM)
Avelo is currently the only airline serving Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport (HVN). It provides travelers in Connecticut an option that is more convenient than driving to New York or Boston. When they’re all launched, Avelo will offer 26 destinations from there.
Andrew Levy, Founder and CEO at Avelo, said:
Getting to Southern Connecticut and everything the greater New England and New York regions have to offer will now be easier than ever. This exclusive nonstop service also makes exploring the abundance of experiences our nation’s capital has to offer a fast and seamless journey for Connecticut visitors.”
Anthony’s Take: Avelo continues to add underserved routes. I’m excited for my inaugural flight from Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) in a few weeks.
