A ridiculous scene recently unfolded at a gate in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). A seemingly intoxicated passenger was told that he could not board American Airlines flight AA73 with service to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD). Instead of trying to accept this fate and figure out alternative plans, the man threw a tantrum and tried to push past gate agents. They held firm and he then took his aggression out on an egate in the boarding area.
Video posted on Instagram shows the man pushing and shoving gate agents as he thinks this might be a good way to get on the plane. Another Australian passenger tells him that is not the way to act and tries to calm him down. This doesn’t work and the man’s ire is then demonstrated through swinging one of his three carry-on bags at the automated gate before stumbling off camera.
Anthony’s Take: I will never understand why passengers think they’re going to be able to fly after a gate agent denies them. At that point, it’s done. Beg, plead, throw a fit…it’s not going to get you on the aircraft. This man needs to rethink his behavior and luckily for him he was not arrested.
