Earlier this week, I wrote about Passengers on Iberia Airlines flight IB 102 getting served some antisemitism along with their Kosher meals when the labels on the trays had either “Free Palestine” or “FP” written on them with magic marker. Now, another incident is being reported on a JetBlue flight as a passenger found “Zio Nazi” written on the sticker placed on the outer layer of the Kosher meal.
I had no idea what “Zio Nazi” meant, but Paddle Your Own Kanoo explained that “Zio is believed to be short for Zionism” and nazi is self explanatory. Meals are served in Economy Class on transatlantic flights, so this must have been one of those even though it has not been identified.
At JetBlue, we have zero tolerance for hate, bias, or discrimination. We are deeply disturbed by the image circulating on social media and have launched an immediate investigation to determine which flight this may have occurred on. So far, no reports or complaints have been submitted by any customers. Nonetheless, our investigation is ongoing, and we have notified the authorities to assist. If we determine that any individual associated with JetBlue or our catering partners was involved, we will take swift and appropriate action.”
Anthony’s Take: It’s ridiculous that people are so cowardly that they choose to write hateful messages on another person’s food. Even if you do take issue with a country, religion, or its people, keep the hate to yourself and work on being better.
