The Confidante Miami Beach was part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, but it might be most famous for being the setting of Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” video. I stayed at the hotel last year and found the experience a mixed bag (full review here). It’s perfectly located for enjoying the beach, but service and elite benefits were spotty at best. I’m happy that it’s getting a huge renovation and reopening as the Andaz Miami Beach. Now, we have an official opening date. It’s a bit delayed from the initial goal of late 2024, but the property is taking reservations for March 5, 2025.
The hotel was sold in 2022 for $232 million and has undergone a $60 million renovation this year. It closed on March 25th for construction to begin. When complete, the 339-room hotel will have a “first-of-its-kind ocean view check-in experience,” a refreshed pool area, and food and beverages handled by the José Andrés Group.
This will be the first Andaz hotel in Florida and will increase Hyatt’s brand footprint in Miami Beach with a new luxury resort. The Andaz brand is still one of Hyatt’s smaller footprints with only 29 properties worldwide. I am a big fan of the brand and the Andaz 5th Avenue remains one of my favorite hotels. I like the modern design, benefits offered to Globalists, and little touches provided to all guests (like the complimentary mini bar snacks and non-alcoholic beverages).
When it reopens, the property will be a World of Hyatt Category 6 hotel. This means that redemptions for standard rooms will cost 21,000 to 29,000 points per night. This is a good value since paid rates are generally over $800 per night.
Anthony’s Take: The renderings of the new hotel look gorgeous and I can’t wait to check it out once it reopens. The hotel was in need of a renovation and it’s good to see the newish owners are investing properly to make it shine.
