The Andaz hotel brand was launched in 2007 by Hyatt. Consumers and developers wanted a hotel experience that felt fresh, uncomplicated, and not pretentious. This was Hyatt’s vie at a competitor for the popular W Hotels. The first Andaz hotel was the Andaz London Liverpool Street. It opened in London in November 2007. The brand name “Andaz” translates to “personal style” in Hindi and reflects the brand’s philosophy of celebrating individuality and local culture. Andaz hotels are some of my favorites. The footprint is small with only 33 locations globally, but I will seek them out when they’re an option.
