An All Nippon Airways (ANA) passenger seated in a premium cabin from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) found a little something extra in their meal on a recent flight.
Not much information has been provided, but photos posted to X show a small piece of metal wire in the dish. If I were to venture a guess, I’d say this was something that came from cleaning the dishes. This is far from the only time that a passenger has found something odd in their in-flight meal.
Back in August 2024, I wrote about a United passenger flying from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) on United Airlines flight UA 234. During the dinner service, he “sustained serious injuries to the inside of his throat when he swallowed a piece of wire hidden inside his airline-provided meal. [The wire] became lodged in his throat, and he was required to undergo a medical procedure to have the metal removed, which caused severe discomfort and pain.” He filed a lawsuit against the airline as a result.
Anthony’s Take: Thankfully, this passenger found this before ingesting it as it could have caused some serious internal issues. It makes me want to thoroughly check anything I’m eating in flight.
