American Airlines flight AA 2470 from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) descended into chaos last week after a passenger threatened to kill crew members, bragged about trying to poison her father, and physically assaulted a flight attendant. This forced the cabin crew to restrain her with flex cuffs and duct tape until police could remove her upon landing.

The incident occurred on September 16th and ended with 47-year-old Ketty Dilone being arrested by federal authorities after a dramatic struggle that involved duct tape. According to passengers and crew, Dilone left her seat during the flight, began filming other passengers, and acted increasingly erratic. When flight attendants instructed her to stop recording, she responded by shouting threats. The situation escalated rapidly when Dilone allegedly kicked a flight attendant twice (once in the leg and once behind the knees and caused the crew member to fall over).
During the altercation, Dilone made shocking statements about allegedly trying to kill her father by poisoning him. This bizarre confession horrified passengers and added a disturbing layer to an already tense situation onboard. As she became more violent, crew members were forced to escalate their restraint measures and used flex cuffs, a seat belt, and duct tape to keep her in her seat.
When the flight landed Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), law enforcement officers and FBI agents met the plane. Dilone fought with them and attempted to kick and bite officers. This prompted them to place a spit hood over her head. Afterward, she asked the officers to put her music on while she was being taken into custody.
Dilone now faces multiple federal charges. These are serious offenses that could result in prison time and permanent bans from commercial air travel. Witnesses reported that her behavior appeared disconnected from reality. This led to speculation that drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication may have been involved. While the exact cause of her outburst remains under investigation, many passengers described the experience as terrifying and deeply disruptive.
Anthony’s Take: I’ve said this many times, but alcohol, drugs, and people trapped together in a flying metal tube are often a recipe for disaster. Hopefully, this woman learns that her actions have consequences.
