Delta Air Lines offers its Platinum and Diamond Medallion members the ability to select what it calls Choice Benefits each year. These range from upgrade certificates, to being able to gift elite status, to Starbucks® Rewards Stars, and statement credits on Delta co-branded American Express cards (as well as several other choices). These credits are supposed to post to your Amex in six to eight weeks, but many members are reporting on FlyerTalk that even though they selected them months ago that no credits have appeared.
The credits given to Platinum and Diamond Medallion members were increased for 2025. Those holding the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card are supposed to receive a $400 credit and those with the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card can opt to receive a $700 statement credit. These amounts both increased by $200 this year. Some members are reporting that the 2024 amount posted, but most are seeing nothing.
FlyerTalk members began posting about issues in receiving the credit back in March. At the time, they were told it would take six to eight weeks or potentially until July. Those dates have come and gone. While Delta phone representatives can see that the selection was made, they cannot provide customers with an update as to when the credits will post. They say it’s on American Express, but this seems like a Delta IT issue (where have we ever seen one of those?).
One FlyerTalk member said that their credit posted on July 12th, but others report that they’re still waiting as of yesterday (after selecting this Choice Benefit in February). Another poster said that Delta and Amex are both blaming each other with no resolution in sight.
Anthony’s Take: Delta needs to get this fixed. It’s a valuable Choice Benefit as you’re essentially getting $400 or $700 in cash (posted as a statement credit). There is clearly something broken in the systems communicating with each other and a fix needs to be prioritized. I’m sure this was knocked down on the list of tasks after the latest IT snafu, but if Delta is going to offer a Choice Benefit than it should work without issue for its most valuable customers (elite members with co-brandeed credit cards).
