American Express has recently reopened a lounge at Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) after extensive renovations. The American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof became accessible to passengers on April 4th after a renovation that doubled the size of the space.

The American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof measures around 7,500 square feet and is located in the Marketplace in Terminal 5. It features a Scandinavian design and will be run by famed Swedish chef and restaurateur Pontus Frithiof. The menu includes local dishes such as shrimp sandwiches, salmon salad, and various other hot and vegetarian options. American Express cardmembers can also choose from a range of beverages including locally brewed beer, a selection of wine and Champagne, and various non-alcoholic options.

The lounge had been closed since March 2023 for renovations. This will replace the Amex Pop-Up Lounge at Gate Area F in Terminal 5. Philip Trocmé, Country Manager of Nordics at American Express, said:

The opening of our new American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof at Stockholm Arlanda is part of our ongoing international commitment to offer our members premium benefits, exceptional service and first-class experiences. We know from experience that access to a relaxing environment, exclusive amenities and the opportunity to enjoy good food and drink before departure is very much appreciated by our members and we look forward to welcoming them to our new lounge and giving them the absolute best start to their journey.”

The lounge is open Sunday to Friday from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturdays from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM with all food and drink offered on a complimentary basis.

Anthony’s Take: I’m happy to see additional American Express lounges popping up in international airports where there are limited airline lounges. I look forward to checking this one out in the future.

Thanks for the news. I hadn’t realized that Amex had more than a couple of international lounges.

Amex has had an Amex lounge at ARN for at least the past 7 years. It went from being the Centurion by Pontus in the Air lounge to the pop-up lounge due to airport renovations and maybe financial concerns that Pontus in the Air had. And now it is back after the shutting down of the Amex pop-up lounge. Unfortunately it has reduced hours over what it used to have. It has been my most used Amex lounge for most of the past 7 years.
