There are only 100 days left until 2026 and American Airlines has launched a centennial anthem video to celebrate its upcoming anniversary. The video celebrates the airline’s past while looking ahead to the future. On April 15th, American Airlines will officially mark its 100th anniversary in the skies and become one of the few carriers worldwide to reach this extraordinary milestone.

The centennial anthem video features a blend of historic footage and contemporary imagery, showcasing the evolution of American’s fleet over the decades, its expansive global network (which connects travelers across six continents), the dedicated team members who have shaped the airline’s story both on the ground and in the air.

To mark this milestone, American Airlines is debuting a special centennial brand identity that reflects both its history and its vision for the future. At its heart is American’s new centennial logo, which integrates the airline’s iconic design with an infinity symbol. This represents:

  • Strength and resilience through 100 years of service.
  • Timelessness and continuity as American embarks on its next century.
  • Legacy and care, reinforcing the airline’s enduring mission to connect people and communities.

The centennial branding will be rolled out across multiple touchpoints, including digital platforms, social channels, in-flight experiences (such as entertainment and onboard announcements), exclusive merchandise and collectibles, sports partnerships, and community events nationwide.

The centennial anthem is just the first step in a year-long celebration leading up to the April 15th anniversary. American Airlines plans to honor its history while highlighting innovation, with events and initiatives that celebrate both its global team and the millions of travelers it has served. Travelers can expect special commemorative flights marking key historic routes, centennial-themed experiences at major airports, and unique storytelling campaigns highlighting the people and moments that defined American’s past century.

Since its founding in 1926, American Airlines has been a pioneer in commercial aviation, from early mail flights to becoming one of the world’s largest and most recognized carriers. The airline introduced the first loyalty program, first airline lounges, and more.

Robert Isom, American’s Chief Executive Officer, said:

American is proud to be an airline known for its legacy of firsts. As we get ready for our centennial, we celebrate the strong history of our iconic airline and brand while knowing we’ve built an airline that will continue to move our customers and company forward for the next 100 years.”

Anthony’s Take: I’m a softy for these campaigns and love the history that is showcased in the video. Delta just celebrated its 100-year anniversary this year and I look forward to see everything American does in 2026.
