American Airlines is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a sweeping refresh of its premium onboard experience, introducing limited-edition amenity kits, pajamas, and upgraded comfort items that blend the airline’s history with a more modern, elevated feel. The new collection will debut across premium cabins beginning in April, forming a centerpiece of the airline’s broader centennial celebration.

At the heart of the rollout are three distinct amenity kits: Astrojet, Silverbird, and Forward(each inspired by a different era of American’s evolution).

The Astrojet design features bold orange accents that reflect the optimism of the early jet age.

Silverbird leans into a polished silver finish with classic striping, evoking the glamour of mid-century air travel.

Forward represents the airline’s modern identity with sleek stitching and design cues tied to its latest aircraft interiors. Together, the kits create a cohesive narrative that connects American’s past with its future, while aligning with branding seen across lounges, onboard services, and digital platforms.

The centennial kits are designed to be more than just functional, they are intended to feel like keepsakes, with materials and finishes that encourage reuse long after the flight. Inside, passengers will find an upgraded selection of comfort and wellness items tailored to each cabin. Premium offerings include enhanced eye masks, socks, skincare products from Joanna Vargas, dental kits, and additional personal care items aimed at improving the inflight experience. The airline has also introduced new touches such as foldable combs and mouthwash, reflecting a growing focus on detail and passenger comfort.

AA Pajamas 2

Complementing the amenity kits, American is rolling out limited-edition pajamas inspired by the same three design eras. The updated sleepwear features a deep-blue color palette with subtle branding tied to each historical theme, maintaining a familiar fit while adding a more refined look. At the same time, the airline is introducing closed-toe slippers across premium cabins, responding to customer feedback for improved comfort. These items will be available in Flagship® First and Flagship Suite® Preferred seats, as well as in Flagship® Business on select ultra-long-haul routes.

The onboard refresh is part of a larger anniversary campaign that spans multiple aspects of the travel journey. American has introduced special aircraft liveries, themed inflight menus, and updated service elements, all designed to highlight key moments from its 100-year history. Passengers can also explore a dedicated inflight entertainment channel featuring films that showcase the airline’s role in aviation and popular culture over the decades.

American’s Chief Customer Officer, Heather Garboden, said:

As we celebrate a century of connecting customers to the world, we wanted this milestone to feel personal the moment someone settles into their seat. Every detail in these centennial kits and pajamas pays homage to the eras that shaped us — from the bold optimism of Astrojet to the refined glamour of Silverbird and the forward momentum guiding our next century. They’re our way of saying thank you to the customers who make every journey possible. Whether they’re traveling for a long‑awaited vacation, a meaningful milestone or an important business trip, we hope these touches bring comfort and reflect how honored we are to welcome them on board.”

Anthony’s Take: As airlines compete to redefine premium travel, American’s centennial collection reflects a shift toward more thoughtful, design-driven experiences. By combining historical storytelling with upgraded amenities, the airline is using its milestone anniversary not just as a celebration, but as an opportunity to reinforce its position in the evolving premium travel market.
