American Airlines Admirals Clubs® have long fallen behind the food and beverage offerings of Delta’s Sky Clubs® and the United Clubs℠. The airline is looking to up its game a bit with new food offerings in the lounges as well as some new dishes and updated beverages in flight.

American Sliders

  • Biscuit and Chicken Sausage Gravy with Cheesy Scrambled Eggs
  • White Cheddar and Monterey Jack Omelet with Chicken Sausage and Seasoned Wedge Potatoes
  • Smothered Veggie and Cheese Frittata with Tomato Wedges and Everything Seasoned Potatoes
  • Swiss and Veggie Omelet with Italian Chicken Sausage and Seasoned Wedge Potatoes
  • A Three-Cheese Omelet with Seasoned Wedge Potatoes

New Beverage Options

Guests in American’s Admirals Club® lounges were served more than 420,000 glasses of complimentary sparkling wine last year. This spring, American is adding new premium spirits and beverages, including Still Gin, Casamigos Añejo Tequila, Tequila Ocho Reposado, Kahlua, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur, and Horse Soldier Bourbon. Additional options include Carolan’s Irish Cream and Fever-Tree’s Espresso Martini Mix.

Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, said:

As spring travel heats up, our customers are eager to see new food and drinks across our menus. Whereas warm comfort foods like soups rule the skies in the fall and winter, the spring season has people craving fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as tried-and-true summer dishes like our new sliders and fries.”

Anthony’s Take: United has improved its lounge offerings and on-board meals over the past year. Delta still leads the way in terms of quality and quantity. American is trying to make changes as it pushes toward being more premium, but it has a long way to go.
