American Airlines announced today that it is adding service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB). The new flights begin in August 10th and will be the third route that American serves to Québec City.
The airline currently flies to/from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Seasonal service runs daily between June 5th and October 26th out of Philadelphia and daily between May 6th and October 26th out of Chicago. The Charlotte flights are also seasonal with a November 2nd end date.
Québec City sits on the Saint Lawrence River in Canada’s French-speaking province: Québec. It dates back to 1608 and has stone buildings and narrow streets that give it a European feel. The Petit Champlain district is where to go for bistros and boutiques.
José Freig, Vice President International Operations of American Airlines, said:
We’re excited to be connecting Québec City and Charlotte as we continue expanding our global footprint, providing travellers from all corners of the globe with more opportunities to explore. Charlotte is wonderful destination and a key hub for our network, so we look forward to adding Québec to its growing roster of destinations as we further connect Canada and the United States.”
Flights to Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) are also served out of Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) by United Airlines. Air Transat offers additional service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
Anthony’s Take: Québec City and Montréal are the closest places to get a taste of Europe without the transatlantic flight. It’s been a long time since I have visited Québec City, but I recommend it for a nice, long weekend getaway.
