American Airlines announced today that it’s adding a new seasonal, summer menu for passengers seated in its Flagship® Business on flights to Europe. Five new menus highlight France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom (and Ireland) with regional flavors available for pre-order.

The airline describes its new menus as offering everything from “bold, vibrant seafood dishes to timeless comfort food classics.” These options will become available starting with flights departing on Wednesday, June 11th. Choices include:

AA France

France

Rustic yet refined ratatouille or a decadent porcini short rib paired with creamy polenta, blue cheese, walnuts, and a medley of roasted beets and zucchini. This menu is available on flights to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).

AA Germany

Germany

Spaetzle tossed with grilled zucchini, cremini mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes or a crisp schnitzel accompanied by potatoes and blistered tomatoes. This menu is offered on flights to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Munich International Airport (MUC).

AA Italy

Italy

Herbed short rib set against a colorful butternut squash medley and pea risotto, finished with a thyme demi-glace or a pan-seared halibut with fingerling potatoes and olive-caper relish. This menu is available when flying to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP), Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), and Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE).

AA Spain

Spain

Mar y mar paella — a seafood lover’s dream — or seared paprika sea bass served with squid ink rice and piquillo pepper sauce. This menu is a pre-order option on flights to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD).

AA UK

UK & Ireland

Mustard-crusted lamb served with tender turnips, peas and baby carrots in a rich lamb reduction or a peppercorn short rib dish with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables finished in a velvety demi sauce. This dish can be pre-ordered on flights to Dublin Airport (DUB), Edinburgh Airport (EDI), and London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

Along with this new menu, American is extending the pre-order window so that guests can choose dishes up to 20 hours before departure (this is currently 24).

Anthony’s Take: American is really trying to position itself in a better light. Premium is coming back to AA between lounges, new aircraft, new seats, updated menus, amenity kits, and more. These dishes look delicious.
