Allegiant Air announced today that it is adding three new, nonstop flights including a new airport on its map. Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) will see service start in February 2026. Avelo abandoned this airport in July and like other carriers, Allegiant is swooping in to take over the opportunity.

New routes include:

  • Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) to/from Bellingham International Airport (BLI) (2x weekly; starts on February 12th)
  • Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) to/from Provo Airport (PVU) (up to 4x weekly; starts on February 12th)
  • Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) to/from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) (2x weekly; starts on February 12th)

Burbank has seen some love from Breeze Airways. After Avelo announced its departure from Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), the low-cost carrier added five routes. It’s also interesting to note the flights to/from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) and Spirit’s Florida hub at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Chattanooga is one of 11 cities that Spirit hacked off its map as part of its latest restructuring plan.

Drew Wells, Allegiant’s Chief Commercial Officer, said:

We’re thrilled to expand our network from coast to coast and look forward to bringing our brand of service to Burbank, California. This growth underscores our commitment to providing leisure travelers with more options to reach the destinations they love and strengthens our position as a leader in offering value-oriented air service.”

One-way fares on the new routes can be snapped up starting at $39 each on Allegiant Air’s site.

Anthony’s Take: Airlines are fiercely competitive and one shows weakness, others pounce. United Airlines also recently announced that it would add more flights to help passengers should Spirit suddenly go out of business. How altruistic of the airline.
