Allegiant Air is a low-cost carrier and the 14th largest airline in the United States. It operates a fleet of more than 120 Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. Based in Las Vegas, many know the carrier for its namesake stadium where the Super Bowl was played yesterday. Yesterday, it announced some special flights to get fans to their must-see football games this season. If you’re rooting for the Packers, Lions, Browns, Chiefs,  or Vikings, Allegiant will be the only airline serving these city pairs nonstop.

Flights for football fans include:

Akron-Canton Airport (CAK)

  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) (1x on September 28th and September 30th)

Appleton International Airport (ATW)

  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) (1x on September 21st and September 23rd)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) (1x on October 4th and October 7th)
  • Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) (1x on October 25th and October 28th)

Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD)

  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) (1x on September 21st and September 23rd)

Fargo’s Hector International Airport (FAR)

  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) (1x on November 16th and November 18th)

Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR)

  • Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA) (1x on September 23rd)

Kansas City International Airport (MCI)

  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas (1x on October 26th and October 28th)

Drew Wells, Allegiant’s Chief Revenue Officer, said:

Football fans are the heartbeat of the game, and we want to make sure they can feel every pulse-pounding moment live. These specialty flights have been extremely popular during past NFL seasons and we expect them to sell out in advance of the game.”

Anthony’s Take: I have never flown Allegiant and I’m not a football fan, but these will have some appeal for those die-hard fans who want an easy way to see some away games.

Good for Allegiant! I like flying Allegiant… they are LCC but not quite the same. With so many bases, and aircraft/crews returning back to base each night, you really tell a difference with the crews who work together with the same people all the time, see the same customer service and ramp agents daily, etc. Much different attitude. I’ve been on so many Allegiant flights where we left 20-30 minutes early with everybody on the plane (two weeks ago left Denver 25 minutes early, arrived Appleton 30 early)! Many of the passengers make the round trip for a 4-7 day trip, so you’ll notice the flight attendants recognizing passengers especially on the return leg to base (out of DEN to ATW… lead F/A said “it’s like homecoming week!” greeting a few dozen he recognized from the week before). The amount of passengers with their credit card is huge. Inflight product selection is the best of any airline (who else will serve you a martini). It’s refreshing flying someone where the employees and passengers all seem to be in a good mood. (commonly see Flight Attendants helping with bags, meeting elderly or those with small kids at the door and walking to seats)
