First Class passengers on select Alaska Airlines flights are in for a treat this month as the carrier has just announced a partnership with Michelin-starred Mister Jiu’s restaurant for a special in-flight menu. This meal will be served only between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
Starting August 28th, passengers can taste the special menu, which features a series of Chef Jew’s signature dishes like his take on the classic Chinese breakfast porridge known as congee, black cod with silken tofu, and a slow-braised duck served with savory sesame egg noodles. Dishes will rotate for a period of one year.
Poultry will come from Liberty Farms in Sonoma County. This is the same duck that is featured at Mister Jiu’s in their trademark Peking Style Whole Roast Duck. This will be blended with seasonal produce from the San Francisco Bay Area and classic Chinese techniques and flavors.
Alaska Airlines has a long history of partnerships with strong West Coast brands, including Salt & Straw, Ellenos, Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, and Stumptown. To celebrate this latest partnership, Alaska is donating $5,000 to Gum Moon Women’s Residence, a local non-profit that was established to address the unmet needs of women and children in geographic and social transition.
Todd Traynor-Corey, Managing Director of Guest Products at Alaska Airlines, said:
We’re grateful to Chef Jew for his partnership in this exciting initiative and ongoing commitment to elevate the travel experience for our guests with sky-high hospitality and world-class cuisine. Our relationship with Chef Jew traces back several years ago, including working together to give back to the residents of San Francisco’s Chinatown. His commitment to quality, gastronomic craftsmanship and philanthropy aligns perfectly with our values.”
Anthony’s Take: I love Cantonese food and these dishes look delicious. I’m jealous of anyone getting to dine on these meals on Alaska Airlines.
