The Department of Transportation (DOT) approved the merger of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines back in September. Since then, the two carriers have started the process of combining and aligning the two operations. Status matches for elite members of both programs are now live.

Alaska Hawaiian Status Match

The two airlines will eventually have a combined loyalty program. Until then, members can link their accounts to receive boosted status levels based on combined Elite-Qualifying Mile (EQM) totals and additional benefits in both programs.

The status match chart above shows how the levels correlate. This incudes:

  • Alaska Mileage Plan MVP status = HawaiianMiles Pualani Gold status
  • Alaska Mileage Plan MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K, or MVP Gold 100K status = HawaiianMiles Pualani Platinum status

When EQMs are combined, members have the chance to level up. The chart above shows how these totals will be mapped to status.

Anthony’s Take: If you have status in either airline’s loyalty program, now is the time to match to enjoy benefits on the other carrier and potentially a higher level of status.
