I’ve written several times about Air Transat. Before last year, I had never heard of the airline, but it was named the World’s Best Leisure Airline in the Skytrax World Airline Awards in 2023 and has been making news with some interesting route additions like Tulum, Mexico and Marrakesh, Morocco (its first African destination). This week, it announced its summer 2025 schedule with lots of additional flights to Florida for Canadians headed to the Sunshine State as well as North America’s only nonstop flight to Valencia Airport (VLC).
Air Transat translates to “deck chair” in French and is a leisure airline with its base largely in Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). Much of its historical flying was from Canada to sunny destinations in the United States and Mexico, but recently it has started to add more and more European cities to its map.
More Florida
In summer 2025, Air Transat will make the following increases:
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from Orlando International Airport (MCO) will increase from 6x to 10x weekly.
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will continue to offer 7x weekly flights.
- Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport to/from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will also fly 1x weekly.
Transatlantic Expansion
For summer 2025, Air Transat will serve 26 transatlantic destinations. Increased frequencies will be offered on the following routes:
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL) will increase from 2x to 3x weekly.
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) will increase from 7x to 8x weekly.
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from Valencia Airport (VLC) is a new route that will fly 1x weekly.
- Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport to/from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) will increase from 4x to 5x weekly.
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to/from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) will increase from 4x to 7x weekly.
Central and South American Growth
Air Transat is also increasing its frequencies on several routes to Cuba, The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, and Peru. These include:
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from Cancún International Airport (CUN) will increase from 8x to 9x weekly.
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) will increase from 1x to 2x weekly.
- Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to/from Puerto Plata’s Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) will increase from 2x to 3x weekly.
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to/from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ) will increase from 2x to 3x weekly.
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to/from Cuba’s Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport (VRA) will increase from 2x to 3x weekly.
Air Transat will serve 40 destinations from Montreal, Toronto, and Quebec City with over 275 weekly flights. A partnership with Porter Airlines will help with connections and to fill planes from around twenty Canadian cities.
Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer, said:
The addition of Valencia to our summer program, an exclusive non-stop route from the Americas, demonstrates our expertise in offering unique and diversified travel options. This destination completes the enhancement of our transatlantic, South and Florida network, as well as the optimization of our connectivity with Porter Airlines, to meet our clients’ expectations.”
Anthony’s Take: Air Transat’s route network continues to intrigue me. The carrier has added many transatlantic and warm weather flights that are not served by other carriers in Canada or the United States.
