Air Canada has ambitious summer plans with increased capacity and new routes between Canada and Europe. One of those took off for the first time yesterday. Flights between Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Edinburgh Airport (EDI) will run 3x weekly through September 7th. This complements Air Canada’s service from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and adds another option for Scotland-bound travelers.

The new route will be flown with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. These do not offer lie-flat seats up front, but have 16 Business Class seats (like you would find on a domestic or US-bound flight) as well as 153 in Economy Class.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and President of Cargo at Air Canada, said:

We are very proud to launch service to Edinburgh from Montréal, our latest route strategically added to our extensive transatlantic network. This new connection between Canada and Scotland deepens our ties and commitment to the UK market. Our MontrealEdinburgh flights are designed to connect our customers across North America conveniently to Edinburgh with seamless travel through our Montréal hub. Whether visiting Scotland to reunite with friends and loved ones, explore its historic castles, enjoy the vibrant arts scene, or welcoming visitors from Scotland eager to discover the vast beauty and diversity of Canada, our flights make it easier than ever to experience all that our two nations have to offer.”

In addition to this new route, Air Canada started flights between Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Porto’s Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) as well as flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) earlier this month. Service between Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Naples International Airport (NAP) began in May and April saw the return of flights between Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

Anthony’s Take: Air Canada has built out a robust summer schedule and I love that it’s connecting Canada with cities like Naples and Edinburgh.
