Back in April, I wrote about Air Canada bringing back flights between Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on March 31st. The seasonal service took flight as scheduled and was supposed to run seasonally through October 2025. This was just changed and the route will now run year round.
Air Canada will continue to fly the route 3x weekly (on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This offers passengers a choice of 30 Business Class, 21 Premium Economy, and 247 Economy Class seats. Air Canada operates its Maple Leaf Lounges in both Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to provide guests with a space to relax and work before both their outbound and inbound flights.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo at Air Canada, said:
Air Canada continues to solidify its leadership serving our country’s capital and we are excited to keep Ottawa connected to one of the world’s most important global gateways all year long. Customers traveling for business, corporate and leisure from the National Capital Region and abroad will enjoy the ease and convenience of international travel options to and from Ottawa. We can’t wait to welcome you onboard our London flights this winter and beyond.”
Susan Margles, President and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority, added:
In today’s global landscape, strong connections between Canada’s Capital Region and strategic markets like the United Kingdom are more vital than ever. Air Canada’s decision to extend its YOW-LHR service through the winter is great news – it reflects the airline’s confidence in our region, its deep commitment to Ottawa–Gatineau, and its role as a leading international carrier. This move is a win for travelers, businesses, and our entire community.”
Anthony’s Take: It’s good to see this route doing well and being extended throughout the year. Ottawa seems to be growing with new routes being added at a decent pace.
