Air Canada flight AC73 from Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) to Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) ended up cancelling on July 26th after a flight attendant lost her cool and shouted at passengers after one requested a blanket. She looks not only unprofessional in the video, but also a bit unhinged.

CTV News Montreal reports that the flight attendant was supposedly so outraged by the request that she had the captain stop taxiing, return to the gate, and remove the passenger who wanted a blanket. All of the other passengers deplaned in solidarity and the flight ended up being cancelled. The flight was rescheduled for the following day with a new crew and took off without incident. Passengers have been offered compensation over the delay.

Air Canada is investigating what happened, but released this statement:

We are taking this incident very seriously. It is under review, and we will take appropriate action. We apologize to our customers and deeply regret that their experience today fell far short of what they have come to expect when flying with Air Canada.”

It’s unknown what was said to the flight attendant, but I can’t imagine it only being a request for a blanket that set her off and made her scream at the entire plane filled with passengers. The other passengers got off the aircraft and this leads me to believe that the flight attendant was in the wrong (aside from shouting, which is unprofessional).

Anthony’s Take: The flight was cancelled and I’m sure this flight attendant is being evaluated. It’s unclear what additional action Air Canada will take and if she will remain employed by the airline (although Air Canada flight attendants are unionized and I’m sure it will defend her).
