Delta Air Lines is continuing to celebrate its centennial with the release of Delta: 100 Years & Climbing. This beautiful coffee table book was produced in collaboration with luxury publisher Assouline. It’s now available for pre-order and serves as a tribute to the airline’s history and the employees who shaped its legacy.

Delta Book 3

The book traces Delta’s transformation from its beginnings as a crop-dusting company in 1925 to its current status as one of the world’s premier global airlines. Today, Delta connects more than 200 million customers annually to 300 destinations across six continents. The airline’s evolution is captured through detailed storytelling and curated photography that showcase key technological advances, route expansion, and the development of its modern brand.

Authored by New York journalist Mark Ellwood, the book is organized decade by decade. It allows readers to follow Delta’s path through major industry eras. Highlights include the introduction of passenger flights in 1929, the arrival of the DC-8 in the Jet Age, and the achievements of pioneering women. The narrative also revisits milestones such as the rollout of onboard Wi-Fi and the debut of Delta One® suites, which helped redefine long-haul travel.

Delta Book 1

The Delta Flight Museum played a crucial part in assembling the photos, stories, and archival materials featured throughout the book. Their contribution ensures that the publication accurately reflects the airline’s past while honoring the people who contributed to its progress. From historic advertising and fleet images to personal employee stories, the content paints a vivid picture of a company built on innovation, resilience, and dedication.

Delta: 100 Years & Climbing will officially debut on December 15th in Assouline boutiques, select retail locations, and online. Delta has also launched a special Holiday Collection on the Delta Shop. The collection features seasonal merchandise ranging from sweaters to ornaments and aviation-inspired gifts. I’ve found some other things there that I want as well.

Anthony’s Take: This book will become part of my collection. As a travel nerd, it has made its way to my Christmas list.
