An incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight departing Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) caused a significant delay after a famous passenger was removed for failing to comply with crew instructions during departure preparations.

According to reports, actress Natasha Lyonne, was seated in Delta One® and did not respond to repeated requests from flight attendants to turn off her laptop and fasten her seatbelt. Witnesses described her as appearing disoriented and intermittently dozing off as crew members attempted to get her attention.

The situation escalated as multiple flight attendants intervened and eventually secured the laptop before the aircraft began taxiing. However, the plane later returned to the gate where additional staff boarded to address the situation directly. During the interaction, Lyonne appeared confused about the aircraft’s status and location. Airline staff ultimately determined that she would need to deplane and she was escorted off the aircraft along with her belongings.

The captain later informed passengers that the delay was due to a traveler who was unable to follow basic safety instructions. This resulted in more than an hour-long disruption to the flight’s departure. The incident occurred shortly after the actress had attended a high-profile event in Hollywood earlier that evening. Her outfit left little to the imagination. Reports also noted that she had previously spoken publicly about personal challenges (including a recent relapse after a long period of sobriety).

Anthony’s Take: The flight eventually departed for New York after the situation was resolved, but the incident highlights how non-compliance with safety procedures can quickly disrupt operations and delay travel for hundreds of passengers whether you’re a celebrity or not. Hopefully, Lyonne was just tired and is finding her way back to sobriety.
