Marriott is the world’s largest hotel chain and it operates more than 40 distinct brands. While almost all belong to the loyalty program (Marriott Bonvoy®), not all of them reward guests equally when it comes to points and Elite Night Credits. While Marriott’s tiered earning structure remains in place, one brand is getting a meaningful upgrade in how stays are rewarded.

Marriott Executive Apartments is one of Marriott’s extended-stay brands. It’s designed primarily for long-term travelers who want apartment-style accommodations paired with full-service hotel amenities. These properties are located in major business hubs across multiple countries worldwide.

Until now, the brand had one of the weakest earning structures in the Marriott Bonvoy® program. Guests earned just:

  • 2.5 Marriott Bonvoy® points per $1 spent
  • 1 Elite Night Credit for every 3 nights stayed

That low return often made the brand less appealing for Bonvoy® members focused on earning points or working toward elite status.

Marriott has now updated the earning rates at Executive Apartments to bring them more in line with the rest of its extended-stay portfolio.

Under the new structure, stays will earn:

  • 5 points per $1 spent
  • 1 Elite Night Credit per night stayed

This aligns Executive Apartments with brands such as:

  • Residence Inn
  • TownePlace Suites
  • Element by Westin
  • Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy
  • Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy

Even with this improvement, Marriott continues to maintain four separate earning categories across its brands.

Most Marriott properties still earn the top rate of:

  • 10 points per $1 spent
  • 1 Elite Night Credit per night

Extended-stay brands like Executive Apartments earn:

  • 5 points per $1 spent
  • 1 Elite Night Credit per night

A small group of brands earn:

  • 5 points per $1 spent
  • 1 Elite Night Credit for every two nights

And one brand (StudioRes) remains the least rewarding, earning:

  • 4 points per $1 spent
  • No Elite Night Credits

Anthony’s Take: While some may have hoped Marriott Executive Apartments would be moved into the highest-earning bucket, the change is still a substantial improvement over the brand’s previous dismal rates.
