Marriott started on the first Ritz-Carlton hotel in Indianapolis. It will be a key component of a large mixed-use redevelopment of the city’s former CSX Building. The effort includes collaboration with Live Nation and Boxcar Development and reflects a broader push to boost tourism and convention appeal in Indiana’s capital city.
The luxury property will be operated by Sage Hospitality Group and is slated to feature 176 guest rooms along with expansive amenities such as more than 11,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a fitness center and spa, a Club Lounge, an outdoor terrace, a lobby bar, and several dining venues. The room mix will include multiple suites (including executive and hospitality suites as well as a signature Ritz-Carlton suite).
This hotel forms part of a larger initiative to modernize downtown Indianapolis and elevate it as a premium destination for conventions and leisure travel. Developers are planning a 4,000-person Live Nation music venue and new retail concepts for an entertainment district surrounding Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Ritz-Carlton will link directly to the arena via a pedestrian bridge and will sit just a few blocks from the Indiana Convention Center.
City tourism advocates point to more than $3 billion in ongoing hospitality and entertainment investment designed to enhance the downtown experience for meeting planners and attendees. Luxury and upscale hotels represent a significant proportion of planned developments over the next five years to position Indianapolis as a more design-forward and walkable meeting hub.
