Delta Air Lines is closing its centennial year with a fun idea to focuses on people and how they care for one another. As travelers head into one of the busiest travel periods of the year, the airline is launching a holiday initiative designed to spotlight small but powerful moments of kindness that happen along the journey.
To mark 100 years of flight, Delta is introducing Centennial Cheer, a program that aims to recognize 100,000 acts of kindness shared between customers and employees. Rather than centering the season on stress and crowds, Delta is placing attention on the gestures of patience, generosity, and humanity that make travel better.
Beginning this week and continuing through January 5th, Delta employees will distribute special Holiday Medallion cards to customers who demonstrate genuine acts of care during their trips. These cards are not connected to frequent flyer status or spending levels. Instead, they are reserved for travelers who embody the spirit of the season through their actions. This could mean assisting a fellow passenger, offering a kind word, or showing extra consideration to the crews and airport teams who keep the operation moving.

Each Holiday Medallion card can be redeemed on the Delta Shop for a surprise gift. Options range from limited edition Delta Centennial merchandise to a small number of premium Centennial Gift Sets that include two commemorative trading cards and a $500 Delta Gift Card that can be used toward a future trip.
Delta is also inviting its most loyal customers to join the effort. Some Medallion members will have the chance to recognize outstanding employees through special holiday edition Job Well Done Certificates. More than 40,000 certificates will be sent to Delta 360°, Diamond Medallion, and Platinum Medallion members who have confirmed holiday travel. Eligible members who want to participate can also request certificates through deltamedalliontags.com.
Alongside these guest driven recognitions, Delta employees will receive cards to celebrate one another as well. Across the operation, colleagues will be able to highlight teammates who live out the company culture of service and care. In total, Delta is putting 100,000 tokens of appreciation into circulation to symbolize its century long commitment to thoughtful, people first service.
Holiday Medallion cards will be distributed while supplies last starting today, December 4th. Customers flying with Delta during the winter holidays are encouraged not only to look out for kindness but also to share it and amplify it. Travelers who witness memorable acts of generosity or care during their journeys can send their stories and photos to MedallionThanks@delta.com to help showcase the many ways people support one another when they are far from home.
Erik Snell, Delta’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, said:
Gifting Holiday Medallion cards to reward acts of kindness creates a positive loop of gratitude between our customers and employees. Whether it’s helping a seatmate with their bag, sharing a phone charger or simply thanking a reservations specialist, those gestures create the kind of connection that makes travel feel special. That’s what Centennial Cheer is all about, recognizing and celebrating the kindness we see every day.”
Anthony’s Take: I love this concept. It’s the little gestures that can mean so much to make someone’s day better. The chance to get a $500 gift card makes it even sweeter.
