Avelo Airlines has introduced a new subscription-based membership program called Avelo Plus. It offers travelers perks, discounted fares, and the ability to stack benefits with the airline’s frequent promotions. The launch comes at a pivotal time for the low-cost carrier as it continues to expand operations on the East Coast while winding down service on the West Coast. To mark the debut, Avelo is offering 50% off the first year of membership (this brings the annual cost down from $99 to $49).
What Avelo Plus Offers
Avelo Plus is designed to deliver added value and flexibility for frequent flyers. The program includes:
- Exclusive member-only Avelo Plus pricing on flights
- Free priority boarding on all bookings
- Year-round access to member-only promotions and discounts
- $50 Avelo Cash bonus credited upon membership renewal
- The ability to share perks with up to nine others traveling on the same reservation
- No blackout dates
Booking is streamlined through Avelo’s website. When searching for flights, discounted Avelo Plus fares appear alongside standard fares. This allows members to easily select and book at the lower price. After selecting a flight, members must log into their account to confirm the booking. New customers can also purchase a membership during the booking process. Avelo Plus fares cannot be booked through customer support, airport ticket counters, or third-party travel sites.
The standard annual fee for Avelo Plus is $99, but travelers who sign up now can take advantage of the introductory first-year rate of $49. With the added perks and savings potential, the discounted rate offers strong value for frequent flyers, especially those who regularly travel with friends or family.
The launch of Avelo Plus follows a challenging year for the start-up airline. This summer, Avelo announced it would end all West Coast operations and close its hub at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) by December. Earlier in the year, Avelo faced public backlash after it was revealed the airline had operated deportation flights for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This prompted calls for boycotts.
On the positive side, Avelo has continued to grow its East Coast network. Recent announcements include six new routes, such as flights to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) and San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU). Additionally, Avelo has placed an order for 50 Embraer E195-E2 jets (with deliveries set to begin in the first half of 2027).
Anthony’s Take: It’s smart for Avelo to offer Avelo Plus. Frontier and Spirit offer paid programs and they are good source of revenue and loyalty building for the carriers.
