American Airlines is elevating its inflight dining with the expansion of its destination-inspired culinary program to long-haul routes across Oceania and South America. Following the program’s launch on select European flights earlier this summer, the airline is now bringing its globally inspired menus to even more destinations.
Starting this fall, passengers traveling in Flagship® Business to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), Auckland Airport (AKL), and Brisbane Airport (BNE) will enjoy menus inspired by the flavors of the Pacific. The new offerings feature fresh ingredients, umami-rich sauces, and modern interpretations of local favorites, including:
- Sweet Chile Sea Bass: served with light couscous, tender bok choy, and roasted carrots.
- Kona-Crusted Beef Filet: paired with sweet potato mash, sautéed kale, and a balsamic demi-glace.
American Airlines is also debuting its expanded dining program on return flights from Buenos Aires’ Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), Montevideo’s Carrasco/General Cesáreo L. Berisso International Airport (MVD), and Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL). These menus are designed to celebrate the flavors of South American cuisine across cabins.
The Flagship® Business menu includes:
- Pan-Fried Sea Bass: paired with couscous and a peperonata sauce.
- Mozzarella Cappelletti: pasta filled with creamy mozzarella and topped with sun-dried tomato sauce.
- Grilled Tenderloin: grilled and served with zucchini spaghetti (zoodles) and a savory puttanesca sauce.
- Grilled Chicken Breast: accompanied by charred vegetables and garlic mash.
Premium Economy passengers can choose:
- Spinach Ricotta Cannelloni: baked pasta filled with creamy spinach and ricotta, topped with rich tomato sauce and aged Parmesan.
- Grilled Chicken Breast: served alongside herb-roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
New Main Cabin options, include:
- Teriyaki Beef Ragout: slow-braised in a savory-sweet glaze.
- Cauliflower Pie: a vegetarian dish layered with spices and creamy béchamel sauce.
With these new culinary offerings, American Airlines is reinforcing its commitment to an enhanced passenger experience across all cabins. I love when airlines offer regional dishes and these menus sound delicious.
Anthony’s Take: Meals served in flight should reflect the airline or the destination. It’s great to get a taste of a place you’re visiting or one last bite of that country’s dishes on the way home. American keeps making inroads to a better customer experience and the investment in dining definitely helps.
