Waldorf Astoria has opened its first Japanese location with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Osaka. The 252-room hotel offers panoramic skyline views and nods to New York’s timeless property. Waldorf Astoria Osaka looks to connect guests to local flavors, culture, and social experiences.

The hotel is located in the Umekita District and positioned between Osaka’s historic and contemporary landmarks. Its convenient location is just steps away from JR Osaka Station, so high-speed rail connections to Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe are quite easy. Both tourists and those on business will appreciate the hotel’s proximity to attractions and offices.

The property was designed by André Fu. The Waldorf Astoria Osaka reimagines the brand’s residential style and offers guests a mix of Eastern and Western motifs along with an Art Deco aesthetic that echos the legacy of the original Waldorf Astoria in New York.

Amenities include four food and beverage options: Peacock Alley lounge (a brand standard), Canes & Tales (that celebrates the brand’s cocktail heritage), Jolie Brasserie (a French brasserie), and Tsukimi (Japanese with signature sushi and teppanyaki counters). Personal concierges, 24-hour in-room dining, an indoor pool, a Japanese inspired spa and wellness studio, a fitness center, and more than 355,000 square feet of event space.

Anthony’s Take: I’ve stayed in many Waldorf Astoria locations around the world. My favorite might still be the Rome Cavalieri, but this property looks great. Osaka is a fun city to explore and it’s nice to see a new hotel option.
