Sun Country Airlines is a low-cost carrier based in Minneapolis with focus cities in Dallas and Las Vegas. The airline flies to more than 100 destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. This past summer, it added 11 destinations to its network. For 2025, it’s not yet adding any (it says these will come in early 2025) and will cut five routes from the map.
Sun Country appears to be ending several cities.
The carrier’s schedule has been extended into September 2025 and some cities like AVL, BIL, CLE, COS, OMA do not seem to be returning.

Sun Country has stopped flying between Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) and:
- Asheville Regional Airport (AVL)
- Billings Logan International Airport (BIL)
- Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE)
- City of Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (COS)
- Omaha’s Eppley Airfield (OMA)
Grant Whitney, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Sun Country, said:
Sun Country has more than doubled its nonstop destinations from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in the past five years, making us the leisure airline of choice at MSP. Our summer 2025 schedule will offer even more flight options to our most popular leisure markets.”
The announcement today did not mention the cuts and touts the number of routes that will be available next summer. Aviation watchdog, @IshrionA, says that “Sun Country announced it would focus 2025 growth on cargo services while passenger capacity (by block hours) would shrink 10-12% year-over-year.”
Anthony’s Take: It sounds like Sun Country is deciding what to do with some of its network and buying time while it balances routes and an increased focus on cargo. Tickets for existing routes are now bookable through September 2, 2025.

Too bad MSP has now lost both SY and G4 nonstop to AVL. I wouldn’t fly either, but without those, I’m sure DL will also pull back that route and force folks through ATL again.
