SAS has been making lots of news lately. SAS recently joined SkyTeam and left Star Alliance after being a founding member since it was formed in 1997. The Scandinavian airline is now better aligning its flights with new alliance partner, Delta Air Lines. It recently added flights to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to its route map and yesterday it announced that it will be returning to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) 57 years after it flew its inaugural flight.

SAS 2025

Today, SAS released news that it’s continuing to develop Copenhagen Airport (CPH) as its main hub for international travel. The airline is also adding many European destinations for summer 2025. These include:

  • Billund Airport (BLL) (4x daily and 3x on Saturdays; runs from March 30th to October 25th)
  • Bodø Airport (BOO) (2x weekly; runs from March 19th to October 23rd)
  • Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) (2x weekly; runs from April 9th to October 22nd)
  • Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) (4x weekly; from April 3rd to October 24th)
  • Harstad/Narvik Airport (EVE) (1x weekly; runs from May 24th to October 25th)
  • Kraków John Paul II International Airport (KRK) (daily; runs from April 10th to October 25th)
  • Kristiansand Airport (KRS) (2x daily; runs from March 30th to October 25th)

  • Seville Airport (SVQ) (2x weekly; runs from March 1st through June and then in September and October)
  • Turku Airport (TKU) (5x weekly; runs from March 31st to October 24th)
  • Valencia Airport (VLC) (2x weekly; runs from May 31st to October 25th)

SAS will also begin flying two North American routes next summer. These include daily flights between Copenhagen Airport (CPH) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) as well as between Oslo Airport (OSL) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Both of these routes will run seasonally in summer 2025.

SAS CEO, Anko van der Werff, said:

Following new ownership and the successful completion of our restructuring, SAS is emerging as a competitive and financially strong airline. By enhancing Copenhagen as our main hub and expanding our network, we are boosting connectivity and driving economic growth not only in Denmark but across Scandinavia. As we focus on building a global hub in Scandinavia, Copenhagen will become a central gateway, bringing the region even closer together. For our passengers, this means more travel options, improved convenience, and a seamless experience across a growing number of destinations.”

With all of these new routes and planned changes, SAS will also continue to operate both Oslo Airport (OSL) and Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) as hubs. Oslo Airport (OSL) will maintain up to 125 daily departures to more than 60 destinations (focused on regional and European travel). Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) will offer more than 70 direct routes and 120 daily departures and will remain an important gateway for European and intercontinental travel. This will further be supported by SAS’ newly announced partnership with Braathens Regional Airways AB (BRA).

Anthony’s Take: SAS is making lots of announcements and big changes since its switch to SkyTeam this month. I look forward to seeing what else is coming.

This is fantastic news! SAS’s expansion into new markets demonstrates their commitment to providing travelers with more options. I’m particularly excited about the new route to New York JFK. It will be a great addition to their North American network.

YZZ Trail Regional Airport?? That’s like the middle of nowhere British Columbia. Amazing since the biggest thing going in there right now is a turboprop. Think that was supposed to be YYZ Toronto lol.

There was a typo in the press release and I was rushing. I thought it seemed off. Thanks for pointing this out. Fixed.
