Spirit Airlines currently flies to 33 states, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and Washington DC. It will add its 34th state to its route network on October 10th.
Spirit Airlines will begin new, nonstop flights between Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The daily flights will be operated with Spirit’s Airbus A320 aircraft with 174 seats (including eight Big Front Seats®).
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, said:
We can’t wait to welcome aboard Birmingham travelers looking for both an affordable and convenient way to enjoy Fort Lauderdale’s beautiful beaches. Our new daily service will make flying to Fort Lauderdale more accessible and will provide an attractive alternative to driving. It will also make it easier for our Florida Guests to enjoy Birmingham’s southern hospitality.”
Spirit recently made some customer-friendly changes, including:
- No change or cancellation fees
- Increased checked bag weight allowance (up to 50 pounds)
- Extended the expiration date for Future Travel Vouchers to 12 months (for vouchers issued on or after June 3rd)
