A new study conducted by BestBrokers reveals the most expensive Airbnb in every US state. There are 2.25 million active listings in the United States and some of them carry price tags so exceedingly high that a single-night stay is more than most of the population’s annual salaries.
Colorado takes the top spot with the Riverbend House in Aspen, CO coming in at a staggering nightly rate of $55,729. The luxurious eight-bedroom villa boasts 13 bathrooms, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and a private theater. Closely following this home is the Crown Jewel on Lake Austin. It costs $53,584 nightly and provides guests with nine bedrooms, 13.5 bathrooms, a spa, an outdoor pool, and tennis courts. Nevada’s Sierra Sunset Estate takes third place ($39,563 per night). The 24-acre lakefront property sports eight bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms. South Carolina’s Sunrise Cove Getaway runs $37,510 per night (only three bedrooms and two baths) with a hot tub and lakefront views. The Mother Lode in Aspen, CO ranks fifth at $34,772 nightly. It includes five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a spa area, media room, golf simulator, pool and ping pong tables, wet bar, private fitness studio, and hot tub with views of Aspen Mountain. All cleaning fees, Airbnb service fees, and occupancy taxes are included in these luxe rentals.
In case you’re wondering, North Dakota ranks as being the most affordable with its highest rental rate coming in at $994 nightly. The 500 priciest Airbnb rentals in the US range from $633 to $55,729 per night. Colorado dominates the list with nine properties falling within the 20 most expensive (Nevada and California follow with two each).
Some other interesting takeaways from this report include:
- Zillow rental data shows that the median monthly rent for all property types in Nevada stands at $1,995. This means that a week’s stay in the state’s most expensive Airbnb ($276,941) would equal more than 11 years’ worth of rent.
- The average full-time employee would need to set aside five years’ worth of earnings ($53,490 per year) to afford a seven-night stay at Zephyr Cove’s Sierra Sunset Estate ($276,941).
- At a 50% occupancy rate, Sierra Sunset Estate would generates annual revenue of $7,220,248.

Anthony’s Take: These are truly some luxurious homes with price tags to match. Maybe some day (if I hit the Powerball), I’ll spend a night or two in one of these amazing rentals.
