Glasgow Airport (GLA) saw a rowdy crowd of 26 passengers thrown off of easyJet flight U2 3163 before it took off to Faro International Airport (FAO). The disorderly male passengers were removed due to their disruptive behavior.
The Herald reported that local police were called to assist the crew with the removal of this large group. As a result, the flight was delayed over two hours.
A spokesperson for easyJet said:
We can confirm that a group of passengers due to travel on U2 3163 from Glasgow to Faro yesterday evening were denied boarding prior to take off and met by police as a result of disruptive behavior.
Our cabin and ground crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.
Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behavior towards our staff.
The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always our highest priority.”
Anthony’s Take: This is one of the largest groups that I have heard of being removed from an aircraft. They must have been partying and causing quite a scene. Better to deny them boarding then have an incident in the air.
