The year is coming to a close tomorrow and I’m looking back on some of my travel memories for 2024. While I flew more than 2023, I’m nowhere near my prepandemic flying levels. I flew 138,570 butt-in-seat miles across 133 flights. This brought me to 43 airports in nine countries (on 12 airlines). I’m hoping for even more in 2025.
Here is my flying breakdown for 2024:

2024 Flying Highlights
This year saw lots of domestic flying on mostly short hops. I did not have any international First Class flights and most of my flying was concentrated between Delta, United, and Spirit Airlines.
Avelo Airlines Inaugural Flight LAL to HVN
I joined Avelo Airlines in June on its inaugural flight from Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) to Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport (HVN). I covered the pre-flight festivities in this post. It was an exciting day not just for Avelo Airlines, but also for the airport. Avelo added service to a central Florida airport that has not seen passenger flights in more than 10 years. The airport is only a 35-minute drive from me in Tampa and this was also my first time flying Avelo Airlines.
Flying Singapore Airlines’ Soon-to-be-Gone Fifth Freedom Route Between MAN and IAH
We flew roundtrip (outbound and inbound reviews) between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Manchester Airport (MAN) aboard Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 aircraft in Business Class. I love Singapore Airlines (and while this was not First or Suites Class as we have flown in the past), it was a comfortable ride with great service both ways. This route will be going away in April 2025.
Anthony’s Take: I’m looking forward to lots more flying in 2025. I already have flights booked with United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Breeze Airways, SWISS, WestJet, and Lufthansa with lots of planning still to do. Stay tuned for more reviews and my thoughts along the way next year.
