Delta Air Lines announced yesterday that it’s adding a new seasonal flight between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) this winter. The route will run 4x weekly beginning on October 26th.

Orlando is the eighth city that Delta will connect with London this year. Other routes include:

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
  • Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

Delta’s flights to/from Orlando International Airport (MCO) will be operated with its newest Airbus A330-900neo aircraft with 29 Delta One® Suites, 28 Delta Premium Select, 56 Delta Comfort+, and 226 Main Cabin seats. Delta is continuing to expand its Europe offerings from Florida and this new route complements Delta’s service to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) from both Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Tampa International Airport (TPA) (more here). These new flights are also additive to what Delta’s partner, Virgin Atlantic, currently offers from Orlando.

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, said:

In partnership with Virgin Atlantic, our new route between Orlando and London seamlessly connects two diverse destinations, offering customers a wealth of experiences on both sides of the Atlantic. Floridians can explore London’s historic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and enjoy world-class dining, while Londoners can escape to the sunny beaches and world-famous attractions of Orlando.”

Together, Delta and Virgin Atlantic will operate up to 187 weekly flights to/from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to 14 destinations in the US this winter. Virgin Atlantic also offers year-round service to/from Manchester Airport (MAN) and seasonal service from Edinburgh Airport (EDI).

Anthony’s Take: This is Delta’s only non-hub route and a welcome addition to its network. I like that it’s also getting the Airbus A330-900neo for this seasonal service.
