Back in February, I wrote about JetBlue and TAP Air Portugal offering members of both JetBlue’s TrueBlue and TAP’s Miles&Go loyalty programs reciprocal mileage earning and redemption benefits between the two airlines. This loyalty partnership is now ending on September 30th while codeshare flights between the two carriers will continue.
This partnership marked the first time that JetBlue TrueBlue members could earn and redeem miles on one of JetBlue’s European partner airlines and also opened up JetBlue flights to TAP’s Miles&Go members. Passengers could earn and redeem TrueBlue points to destinations like Lisbon as well as destinations in Africa and beyond through TAP’s route network. Those traveling to the United States were able to earn and redeem for connections onward from the cities that TAP serves.
JetBlue sent an email to members earlier today announcing that this would soon be no more. It reads:
We wanted to let you know that our loyalty partnership with TAP Air Portugal will be coming to an end. Our codeshare partnership will continue and this will not impact codeshare bookings.
The last day you can book TAP Air Portugal flights to earn or redeem TrueBlue points will be 9/30/25. The deadline to travel and submit any requests for retroactive TrueBlue points must also be completed on or before 9/30/25. Please note, this partnership termination will not impact any cash bookings made on TAP Air Portugal. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Questions? You’ll find more info here. Thanks for your continued loyalty and understanding.
The TrueBlue Team”
This news has also been added to JetBlue’s site. The last day you can book TAP Air Portugal flights to earn or redeem TrueBlue points is September 30th. No new bookings will be eligible for earning or redeeming after that date. All retroactive points requests must be submitted by September 30th. All existing bookings made prior to September 30th will be honored.
JetBlue has been trying to find its footing. It has announced everything from First Class and lounges to a partnership with United. Why this agreement with TAP Air Portugal has unraveled is not yet known. This could also be due to TAP Air Portugal’s own uncertainty as it might be sold to Air France-KLM or Lufthansa in the future.
Anthony’s Take: JetBlue still partners with Etihad Airways, Hawaiian, Icelandair, and Qatar. Let’s see how long these partnerships last. Any insights on why this partnership is going away?
