JetBlue announced a bunch of new routes and frequency increases in New York state and New England yesterday. It also dropped 18 routes from its network and exited seven markets altogether including some major metros like Charlotte, Minneapolis, and San Antonio.
Route Cancellations
JetBlue is cancelling the following routes this fall and winter. The mix of business and leisure routes is interesting and will see JetBlue exit some of its competitors hubs altogether. These include:
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) (ends on October 26th). JetBlue will cease flying to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) altogether.
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) (ends on October 26th). JetBlue will cease flying to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) altogether.
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) (ends on October 26th). JetBlue will cease flying to San Antonio International Airport (SAT) altogether.
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to/from José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport (GYE) (ends on January 6th).
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to/from San Diego International Airport (SAN) (ends on January 6th).
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to/from Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) (ends on October 27th). JetBlue will cease flying to Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) altogether.
- Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) to/from Miami International Airport (MIA) (will not return in the fall).
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to/from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) (ends on October 26th). JetBlue will cease flying to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) altogether.
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to/from Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) (ends on September 7th).
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to/from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) (ends on October 26th). JetBlue will cease flying to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) altogether.
- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to/from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ) (ends on October 26th).
- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to/from Santo Domingo’s Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) (ends on January 6th).
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to/from Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) (ends on October 26th). JetBlue will cease flying to Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) altogether.
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to/from Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) (will not reopen). JetBlue will cease flying to Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) altogether.
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to/from Guadeloupe’s Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP) (will not reopen). JetBlue will cease flying to Guadeloupe’s Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP) altogether.
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to/from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) (ends on October 26th). JetBlue will cease flying to San Antonio International Airport (SAT) altogether.
- Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to/from Cancún International Airport (CUN) (ends on October 26th).
- Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to/from Orlando International Airport (MCO) (ends on October 26th).
Anthony’s Take: It’s a bit surprising to see JetBlue completely pull out of Burbank, Charlotte, Guadeloupe (well, this one isn’t as major as some of the others), Minneapolis, Palm Springs, San Antonio, and Tallahassee. Pressure from other carriers and the airline’s own poor financial performance is motivating these cuts.

I had a ticket from Bar Harbor to Charlotte canceled by JetBlue due to the cessation of service to CLT. Of course they canceled my flight on Cape Air who now wants 3x what the entire journey costs just to take me from BHB to BOS….
