Bilt Rewards continues to innovate and offer members opportunities to earn additional miles. In March, I wrote about how Bilt was losing American Airlines as a transfer partner in June. At the same time, it added Alaska Airlines (more here). Last week, Bilt has added another transfer partner (allowing 1:1 transfers into Hilton Honors™). Now, Bilt is making it easier to earn 3x Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles when using the carrier’s personal, co-branded credit card when paying rent.
Each month, Bilt makes the first of the month fun. It offers bonus opportunities, chances to win points playing a trivia game, and even a contest to win free rent (up to $2,500) for what it calls “Rent Day.” Bilt is a great program with lots of transfer partners and these Rent Day promos make it even sweeter. I am using the Bilt Mastercard® to pay rent on my winter place in Florida again and love it. I have no other way to earn points or miles when paying rent (without fees).
If you use an Alaska Visa Signature® Card to pay your rent, you can earn 3x Alaska miles (up to $50,000 per year in rent charges). Rent payments will be considered a bonus category on the card like it currently offers 2x Mileage Plan miles per $1 spent on eligible gas, EV charging stations, cable, streaming services, and local transit purchases. Bilt does charge a 3% fee for third party credit card payments (which the Alaska Visa Signature® Card would be considered). This means that you’ll essentially pay one cent for each Mileage Plan mile earned on rent and charged to this card.
The addition of Alaska Airlines as a transfer partner was a big win for Bilt Rewards. Now, being able to earn bonus miles by paying rent (starting today) is another win. The card offers a partner that is not available elsewhere and Alaska’s Mileage Plan allows you to book many airlines both in oneworld and outside.
Anthony’s Take: There is a cost associated with using an Alaska Visa Signature® Card to pay rent. That said, Alaska offers valuable miles and this is still a great opportunity.
