I am a die-hard Martha Stewart fan. I have many of her 100 books and love just about everything she has ever done. I’m fortunate to have met her a few times through the years (once when we both received Media Industry News Awards (MIN) awards many years ago) and around other events in NYC. I always thought that Martha flew strictly private, but a recent video posted on her social media channels has her gushing about United Polaris® and its lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

Martha is seen checking a bag, going through security, and sitting in the lounge. I have to wonder how much of this is staged as I just can’t see Martha waiting in line for baggage, TSA, or to board a United flight. It appears like someone is carrying her bag for her.

This is a paid endorsement. If Martha really loves the Polaris® Lounge (review of the Newark location here), than I would love to see her reaction to the Delta One® Lounge at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (review here). I disagree with Martha around the food in the Polaris® Lounge. The quality has gone downhill at the buffet and even the sit-down restaurant has lost some of its luster. The Polaris Burger is now kind of meh. When it launched, Chef Art Smith developed the recipe. It seems to have changed and is also pretty tired now.

Anthony’s Take: The Polaris® Lounges are very nice, but they have been overshadowed by what Delta has brought to market. I’m still pretty surprised that Martha flies commercial and not private for every flight, but stranger things have happened. I guess Martha’s verdict is that Polaris® is a good thing (I wonder if she feels the same way about the meal served on the flight).
