Stroopwafels have quite the following and their absence has been felt on United Airlines. The thin Dutch cookies that sandwich a syrupy filling are best eaten when warmed over a cup of coffee or tea. These have been a staple of United flights for years, but they disappeared from the snack rotation in Economy Class and many wondered when or if they were coming back. The answer is this month.

Last week, United teased the post above and then held off on its explanation based on the tragedy that occurred in Washington DC. It would sound tone deaf to tout a cookie’s return the day after such a horrible accident.
While United has not yet explained what the post means, eagle-eyed Reddit members noticed that complimentary Stroopwafels were back in the in-flight menu this month. Stroopwafels were first introduced on United flights in February 2016. They were pulled out and brought back many times since and have been a popular snack choice.
Anthony’s Take: I enjoy Stroopwafels. They’re not as good as Biscoff cookies, but these caramel treats are a solid choice. I’m sure I’ll be asking for one in the near future.
