Frontier Airlines flight F9 1326 was arriving from San Diego International Airport (SAN) when the landing gear caught fire yesterday during an emergency landing at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). The pilots detected smoke and made the fiery landing safely.

Flight 1326 was on its way from San Diego to Las Vegas when the pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency, Frontier said in a statement.

The aircraft held 190 passengers and seven crew. There were no injuries reported and all were evacuated using airstairs. As dramatic as the flames look, the pilots did a good job in landing safely. Smoke was reportedly detected and the emergency landing was declared. Flames can be seen coming out of the aircraft’s right rear gear. After the aircraft came to a stop, a fire crew extinguished the flames.

What exactly caused the issue has yet to be determined/released to the public. One passenger on board the plane said that crew did not inform passengers of an emergency landing, but that it was a hard landing with fire trucks waiting for them.
Anthony’s Take: This is another example of how safe air travel is even when there are mechanical issues. These pilots did a good job in getting everyone safely on the ground.
