American Express is expanding its global Centurion Lounge network with the addition of a new lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), marking the company’s first proprietary lounge in the Netherlands and its first at one of Europe’s busiest airports.
Expected to open in late 2026, the new Centurion Lounge will be located between Concourse E and Concourse F on the airport’s non-Schengen side, providing eligible American Express cardmembers with a premium pre-flight experience for long-haul and international departures. The announcement makes American Express the first global credit card company to establish its own branded lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol, Europe’s fourth-busiest airport.

Spanning nearly 6,000 square feet, the lounge will draw inspiration from Amsterdam’s culture, architecture, and heritage. The design will feature a palette of blues, greens, and earth tones intended to reflect the city’s iconic waterways and tranquil atmosphere. Architectural elements throughout the lounge will be inspired by Amsterdam’s famous canal houses, incorporating clean lines, repetition, and distinctive proportions. American Express also plans to showcase works from local artists, helping create a space that celebrates Dutch creativity and culture. Floor-to-ceiling windows will flood the lounge with natural light, creating an open and welcoming environment for travelers.
A dedicated coffee bar will serve as one of the lounge’s signature features, paying tribute to the important role coffee plays in Dutch culture as a way to relax, connect, and socialize. The concept is designed around the Dutch idea of “gezellig” (a term used to describe a warm, comfortable, and convivial atmosphere). Food and beverage offerings will feature locally inspired menus that reflect Amsterdam’s culinary traditions while complementing the premium Centurion Lounge experience.
Guests visiting the new Amsterdam location can expect many of the features that have made Centurion Lounges among the most sought-after airport lounges worldwide. Amenities will include:
- Premium dining and bar service
- Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi
- Dedicated workstations
- Multiple seating areas
- Abundant power outlets and USB charging ports
- Locally inspired food and beverage selections
- Comfortable spaces for both work and relaxation
The Amsterdam lounge will become part of the rapidly growing Centurion Lounge Network, which currently includes 29 locations worldwide. The addition further strengthens American Express’ presence in Europe and provides eligible cardmembers traveling through one of the continent’s busiest international gateways with a dedicated premium lounge option. As Amsterdam continues to serve as a major connecting hub between Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East, the new Centurion Lounge is expected to become a popular retreat for international travelers seeking a more comfortable and elevated airport experience.
Anthony’s Take: With its Dutch-inspired design, premium amenities, and prime location in the non-Schengen departures area, the Amsterdam Centurion Lounge promises to bring a distinctive local touch to one of the world’s most recognizable airport lounge brands when it opens in 2026.
