The American Express® Green Card is currently offering its best welcome bonus ever. For a limited time, the American Express® Green Card is offering 60,000 Membership Rewards® Points after you spend $3,000 in eligible purchases on your new card in your first six months of being a cardmember. Plus, you’ll earn 20% back on eligible travel and transit purchases made during your first six months of card membership (up to $200 back in the form of a statement credit).

But, aside from the welcome bonus, there is a lot to love about this card. I was approved for one on Friday and look forward to adding it to my portfolio of cards. Here are five other reasons to get this card:

CLEAR People

5. $189 CLEAR Plus Credit

CLEAR saves tons of times at airports (especially because everyone and their mother now seems to have TSA PreCheck). Receive up to $189 per calendar year in statement credits when you pay for your CLEAR Plus membership (subject to auto-renewal) with the American Express® Green Card.

Foreign Currency

4. No Foreign Transaction Fees

It’s 2023. It makes no sense to pay foreign transaction fees. When you use your American Express® Green Card internationally, there are no foreign transaction fees.

Travel Early

3. Trip Delay Insurance

It’s going to be a hectic travel summer. Protect yourself by using this card. If a round-trip is paid for entirely with your eligible card and a covered reason delays your trip more than 12 hours, Trip Delay Insurance can help reimburse certain additional expenses purchased on the same eligible card, up to $300 per trip, maximum 2 claims per eligible account per 12 consecutive month period. Eligibility and Benefit level varies by Card. Terms, Conditions, and Limitations Apply. Please visit americanexpress.com/benefitsguide for more details. Underwritten by Amex Assurance Company.

Delta Entrance

2. $100 LoungeBuddy Credit

Purchase lounge access through the LoungeBuddy app using the American Express® Green Card and receive up to $100 in statement credits annually.

1. Good Earnings on Travel & Dining

There are better earnings to be had on one category or the other, but this card offers 3x Membership Rewards® Points on travel for airfare, hotels, cruises, tours, car rentals, campgrounds, and vacation rentals. It also offers 3x Membership Rewards® Points on transit purchases including trains, taxicabs, rideshare services, ferries, tolls, parking, buses, and subways, plus, 3x on eligible purchases at restaurants worldwide, including takeout and delivery in the US.

Anthony’s Take: I’m happy that I was approved for the American Express® Green Card. It’s a great addition to my wallet for all the reasons above, plus the welcome bonus more than pays for the card.
